Meet the Maker: Sian Thomas

We visited one of our long time Atelier makers, Sian Thomas, at her Katoomba studio and spoke to her about why she started her ceramics business and what inspires her.

“As I began setting up my own home I was always looking for a butter dish, which would fit the butter. Not having any luck I began to realise the only way would be to make one. Since then I enjoy creating all kinds of kitchenware that will look beautiful as well as function.”

“I am inspired by the surrounding of Flora and the local dragonfly in my area of the Blue Mountains. Working with clay has never ceased to interest me with every kiln fired there is always something new to discover and improve upon. I like living in a community of artists in the surrounding area.”
