Reimagining the future in a new partnership
It’s been heralded for some months now - a reimagining of Lyttleton Stores not-for-profit Co-op based on the belief that growing a strong resilient community is essential in these uncertain times. We’re all well aware of the range of factors that have contributed to the current economic downturn, making times very hard for small community organisations. But sometimes it’s adversity that forces us to find new ways of doing things, opening up new and exciting opportunities.
In this spirit, we’re very pleased to announce that our offerings to the community will be expanding to include the amazing RoseyRavelston Books within our beautiful heritage building. This means we will share the space with a like-minded bookshop, while the Co-op still provides local seasonal produce, groceries, community events, artisan-made wares, monthly exhibitions, and creative educational workshops – all this with some wonderful new faces and lots of books! A new and exciting era for us and for you.
Please be aware that we will be closed the second week of August (Monday 7 to Friday 11) to see the Bookshop move in and to reposition the Co-op. If you’re worried about missing out on your fresh produce and other groceries during this time, please get in touch, and we’ll make sure to organise special produce/grocery boxes with everything you need. At the end of this week there will be a celebratory launch weekend to which everyone is invited!
Lyttleton Stores, Reimagined and Relaunched
Join us on the second weekend of August for the relaunch of Lyttleton Stores, now featuring RoseyRavelston Books!

The fire pit will be lit, food and drink available for purchases, music and poetry readings to enjoy. Bring a picnic rug, drop in and say hi, make a day of it. We can’t wait to see you there!
Who are RoseyRavelston?
By Belle Butler
There is something delightful about opening up a used book. The dog-eared folds of interrupted chapters, the smudges of thumbed pages, the rushed scribbles of another reader’s thoughts. All of these markings and imperfections suggest that the solitary experience you are about to embark on is in fact not so solitary…
Meet Your Local Farmer Dinner
On Saturday May 27, Lyttleton Stores was proud to host our first Meet Your Local Farmer Dinner, in collaboration with Blue Mountains Food Co-op. The event was a huge success, thanks to all the lovely supporters who came along and the team effort of both Cooperatives…
Winter Recipe: Citrus Greens
Simple way to snazz up your winter greens either fresh from the garden or wilted in the bottom of the fridge. This combo wowed our guests at our Meet the Farmer dinner held in collaboration with the Blue Mountains Food Co-op and Urbavore in May…
Save the Date!
Our next local food event will be a Fireside Farmers' Chat in the garden at Lyttleton Stores, on Saturday August 26th. Think hot soup, warm sourdough bread, mulled wine, and lots of good conversation on the hot topic of the future of food growing in the Blue Mountains.
Winter Produce Boxes: What’s Inside and Cooking Ideas
The iciness of winter is well and truly here in the Blue Mountains. The frosty mornings, the glowing warmth of the fireplace and cosiness of cooking at home, make it the ideal time to embrace what’s in season with one of our produce boxes. It’s a time to get inventive in the kitchen, to refuel the soul with comforting broths, curries, roasts, citrus slices, preserves and a time to try new flavour combinations…
If you’ve been feeling a little bit bored and a little bit over the thinking process of what to cook next, we’ve got some tasty ideas and suggestions to help spice up your recipe repertoire…
Keep Up With The Youth On Climate?
On 17 June, a group of students from several high schools in the Mountains gathered at Lyttleton Stores Co-op to discuss Greta Thunberg’s book “The Climate Book”. At the conclusion, each school left with a copy of the book for their library, donated by Lyttleton Stores from BMCC grant funds…
Garden News
Lyttleton Stores has always endeavoured to be a space first and foremost for community, and our gardens are no exception. In fact, we are committed to transforming our gardens into a true community space, open for all to share and enjoy! And so we have been hard at work, reinvigorating our gardens to create a space worthy of our community. This wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, and of everyone who has attended our Monthly Garden Working Bees, which continue to be held on the 4th Sunday of each month, 1:30 to 4:30 pm…
Focus on a Maker: Izzy Faz Ceramics
Atelier stocks artisan-made wares, from jewellery to stoneware, and hosts monthly exhibitions in our little window gallery. In Atelier everything is designed and made in Australia, if not the Blue Mountains. The closer to home the better, as we focus on the local craftsperson and local materials. Makers are hand-picked for their creativity, the skill and care they take to make each and every piece, and their preference for environmentally friendly production.
Today we’re focusing on local ceramicist Izzy Faz, whose works are available in Atelier, and feature clays, stones and glazes sourced from the beautiful environment of the Blue Mountains…
Focus on a Tutor: Lauren Gero, To The Trees
At Lyttleton Stores we delight in providing a space where visitors and locals alike can share and learn skills both old and new. From workshops teaching creative and practical crafts, to arts, gardening, cooking, preserving and so much more. We believe in the importance of fostering creative self-expression, of enabling sustainability and self-reliance, and of preserving the skills and crafts of our past.
Few people play a larger role in this than our wonderful tutor! Today we’re focusing on getting to know Lauren Gero of To the Trees, a long-term, much loved and highly enthusiastic teacher a Lyttleton…
Focus on a Volunteer: Ellena Flikier
As a cooperative, Lyttleton Stores is run for the community, by the community, and volunteering at the Stores is a great way to get involved! There are a wide range of great volunteer opportunities available and we’re always happy to work with you to find the job that suits you best! Options range from helping in our store, working in the garden, to assisting with workshops. As well as helping Lyttleton Stores to flourish, volunteers also receive a 20% discount on grocery items for each 2hr shift.
Today, we’re focusing on Ellena Flikier, one of our volunteering superstars, who can most often be found hard at work in our gardens…
