Garden Fair About - Terms and Conditions

Fairs held in our Community Garden are of an informal nature, this is reflected in the garden itself, which we are in the process of restoring after the difficulties of the past few years. We think of them as a carboot sale without the car, or a garage sale at our place. You don’t need any prior experience in selling, we have tried to make the process as simple as possible. Customers come to our fairs to buy from local individuals, not professional businesses (though of course some of you might be both!).

  • Booking a stall entitles you to a space roughly 2 x 2 metres - such as can accommodate a typical 4 foot camping table. If you require more space, please book additional stalls

  • After booking, you will be asked to email the organisers with a description of what you’ll be selling and any photos you can provide - this will be used to promote the Fair

  • You can select whatever space you would like upon arrival, provided it doesn’t impede access - stalls must be moved if advised by organisers

  • Setup will begin an hour before the fair opens, prior to this time we cannot guarantee access to the garden

  • The garden is accessible from the street, without stairs. However, be aware that there are many places where the ground is not level - please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance if required

  • Please bring your own table, chairs, racks, etc - if you need assistances with your setup, let us know in advance

  • We cannot guarantee that your tables will be on level ground, but we will do our best to accommodate your setup

  • We advise parking on San Jose Avenue and entering through the cottage garden. Please consider moving your vehicle to one of the nearby car parks after you’ve finished setting up, to make spaces available for customers

  • Food and drink can be purchased from Lyttleton Stores, and a toilet is available within the Store

  • In the event of inclement weather, we have only a limited amount of space under cover and cannot guarantee access. However, you will be offered the chance to cancel your stall purchase for a full refund. You can also receive a full refund in the case of wet weather, if you attend the fair but decide to leave within the first hour

  • Cancellations up to three days before the fair will receive a full refund. Within three days of the fair, refunds will be at the organisers discretion

  • You are free to run your stall however you would like, provided that what you’re selling falls within the theme of the day (e.g. clothes at a thread fair, art and craft supplies at a destash). You can set your own prices, choose whether or not to accept payments other than cash, choose to engage in trades or give items away, etc

  • If you plan to use your stall to raise money or awareness for a particular organisation or cause, please contact the organisers in advance for approval
