Robbie Bryden - Blue Mountains streetscapes
I am an urban sketcher. I love architecture and drawing and combine these two and you get someone who loves drawing buildings, if possible, en plein air.
My craft is very simple- an A4 sketchbook , black permanent ink pen, small watercolour palette and a stool to perch on.
I started sketching about 5 years ago so I could capture memories when travelling overseas, around the state and just locally.
During the 3 months of 2021 lockdown, I set out to sketch buildings in my local area, from Mt Victoria to Glenbrook. I particularly like the ornate facades of shops, so much of which you don’t see when just walking along a street. Generally, people don’t look up beyond the shop windows, but to me, the best part is above the awnings. The more ornate the better.
As I sketch straight into a book, the sketches in the exhibition are giclee prints on 300gsm artist quality paper.
