INTERVIEW: The Song Bird and the Bee

This month, we interview one of our new makers, Michelle from the Song Bird and the Bee.

What do you make and where is your studio?

The Songbird and The Bee is an artisan candle studio in the bushland of Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains.

We create both scented soy candles, as well as pure Australian beeswax pillar candles.

What is your favourite thing about being a maker?

My favourite thing about being a maker is being able to share a lifelong passion with my community. To be able to put my expertise into products that will bring joy into our homes

What is your go to winter warmer candle at the moment?

With this cold wintery spell, I find that I'm burning A LOT more pure beeswax pillars than usual. The wax I use is still laden with a lot more honey than any other waxes I've ever found before . It burns with a rich orange flame that has the same spectrum of light as the sun . A warming little sunshine right inside the home .

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I am always inspired by nature. By it's rich colours and evocative scents. For this reason I am passionate about using only Australian made, plant based oils in my candles.
