With support from Blue Mountains City Council, Farm It Forward was recently able to set up a new food growing plot at Headspace in Katoomba.
Headspace offers young people aged 12-25 a welcoming environment where they can access free and confidential mental health support, health advice, and general information.
Lis Bastian from The Big Fix recently helped the Headspace crew and young people design and set up a Permaculture garden, and they decided to design in a Farm It Forward plot.
Many regular and new volunteers came along to help set it up and it was a wonderful morning of collaboration, intergenerational contact and connection.
Farm It Forward is looking forward to hosting regular weekly training sessions for young people in market gardening, propagation, food growing, composting and building soil at the Headspace plot, ,providing much needed eco-therapy, knowledge sharing and reconnection to land.
