At Lyttleton, we have a variety of talented employees and volunteers that come from all walks of life. Our latest profile features local photography artist and green thumb Hannah Axelsen.
Name: Hannah Axelsen
How long have you been volunteering/ involved with the Lyttleton community?
I started volunteering with Lyttleton Gardens in March 2020.
What areas are you involved with volunteering?
I now work with Lyttleton Gardens also known as Farm it Forward. I am responsible for a market garden on one of our resident's plots in Lawson.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
Getting to meet new people in the community and people passing through.
How has volunteering helped you to connect with the community?
Volunteering through Lyttleton has allowed me to connect to many like-minded people in the community and establish strong friendships. It also led me to gain employment in hard times through COVID. Further, I have been able to learn about gardening, farming and cooking with fresh and local produce.
What is your favourite thing to eat from the Lyttleton kitchen?
The pizza! The bread is also sensational

Colin Berryman, both his music and photography are amazing
Favourite place to grab a coffee in the mountains?
Black Cockatoo Bakery
Advice to anyone who is considering becoming a volunteer?
Do it! It's fun and you can make friends. You'll also learn about local produce and meet local artists.
